Sound: Stereo Soundboard 9

4 Eyed Freak Notes:
The Four Eyed Freak proudly presents : Led Zeppelin - The Dragon Snake Upgraded
2 versions of this show are circulating. The first one, "Dragon Snake" probably comes from a raw transfert of a (x-generation ?) cassette. The second one, "Drums & Bass Show", is obviously remastered from the same source. Typicaly the kind of brutal remaster i can't stand : harsh equalisation removing all medium frequency, incredible noise reduction untill all hiss (and a lot of music) is definitively removed, compression to death untill all dynamics is reduced to zero. The resulting music sounds very unnatural to my ears, but it's of course a personal opinion.
Though, it's sure the "Dragon Snake" had to, and could be improved in a less destructive way, that's what i tried to do.

Matrixing Maryland 2005 (slumpy)

Date: 26ter Mai 1977, 11te USA Tour
Venue: Capitol Center, Landover, Maryland, USA
Label: Fan Release (slumpy) # 3 CD-R
Soundboard/Audience Matrix
SBD - "Bringing Down The House"[EVSD]
AUD - "One Nation Dancing Groove" [Electric Magic]
slumpy Notes:
Matrixed using Cool Edit Pro, tracks split using CDWave, converted to flac level 7.

There were numerous cuts, snips and dropouts between [and during] songs on both sources, but I tried to maintain the full length of the show by using the longest parts as a guide in each case.

There are a few missing parts in the SBD source which had been filled with another AUD source, which I left as untouched as possible, just trying to make those parts listenable.

The AUD source had a bad case of fluttering a lot of the way through, making it sound like the chopper squad were dropping in a lot of the time - I tried to eliminate this but had to settle on a compromise in some cases, or the ambience of the AUD source would have been lost.

The AUD source was also very loud in the crowd, and rather than lose everything by trying to reduce it, it made more sense to my ears to leave it loud, putting you somewhere around row 20 ;-)

slumpy August 2005.
